The south wall is getting a new look, too, thanks to Anthony Garcia and the Birdseed Collective, and there’s hope that more murals will join those two on the structure in the future, says PlatteForum’s Trish Thibido. “The Globeville community was wanting a mural project started in the community in preparation for Jimmy Carter’s visit to Denver in October,” Thibido adds. “We all came together, and they asked us to do this site. So far, I believe this is the first mural to be painted on CDOT property.”
A ribbon-cutting will take place today at 2 p.m. at the mural site, with a few words from dignitaries and from Jolt and Garcia; afterward, there will be a small reception at Street Kidz Inc., a youth center at 4496 Grant Street, and at 4, an after-party at Crash 45, 321 East 45th Avenue.
