On Skeleton's title track, Red Fox Run's songwriting shows considerable growth, displaying a flair for dynamics and bombast and resulting in the kind of power pop made by acts like the Sweet. "Lucky Sevens," meanwhile, is imbued with jittery energy, sounding like the work of a latter-day post-punk band with a dash of introspection. "Rest Your Bones," a tune that speaks to secrets best exposed and remembered — rather than hidden in shame — as a path to psychological liberation, makes the overarching theme of the album clear. The song's repeated, expansive chorus plays like an incantation with which to drive out one's inner darkness. "Something Is Wrong" flutters with an inner flicker of fire, and "We All Got It" uses sin as a symbol and points to the things we need to forgive within ourselves and others.
