Now the touring version is stopping over in Denver, feathers and all, bringing a modicum of flash and bravado, with cast members Wade McCollum, Scott Willis and Bryan West as three friends driving a glamoured-up bus across the Outback on their way to a drag-show gig, and Joe Hart as the literal straight man, Bob. As fans of the movie and show will attest, there are moments both glorious and tearful along the way, as the boys meet hardships and discrimination on the road. Still, the spectacular costumes in this show are Tony Award-winning and might be the best reason to go.
Shows start tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Buell Theater in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, and run through September 15. Admission prices range from 25 to $105; reserve tickets online at denvercenter.org or call Denver, 303-893-4100.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Sept. 3. Continues through Sept. 15, 2013
