During the course of its seven years, the Create Denver Expo has grown to encompass more and more of its original goal of kickstarting local creatives and independent business owners with better access to resources. But this year there will be some changes, not the least of which is the date, moved from spring to fall to coincide with the end of Denver Startup Week. And with that move come more changes.
“Rather than an exhibition hall of business resources, we will now offer Mix & Assemble Lunchtime Roundtables, so that attendees may share their topical inquiries with a leading expert and smaller groups of like-minded professionals,” Create Denver’s Lisa Gedgaudas notes. “We hope to connect closely with our audience by providing more interactive and engaging working sessions, paring down the number of offerings and refining topics to suit multiple types of creative businesses.”
Some of the highlights include a keynote, “Artists in Changing Times,” with Colleen Keegan of New York City’s Creative Capital, and a two-hour #InsideDenver networking reception from 4 to 6 p.m., which will offer “a way for attendees to regroup, remix, receive a hash-tag, interact live with Twitter, create ‘restart’ buttons and get other swag while enjoying food and beverages, including a specially cu-rated beer by Wynkoop,” says Gedgaudas.
