The real point of Denver Arts Week isn’t to invent ten days of cultural events out of thin air. Rather, it’s to shine a spotlight on what happens here all year long — if you know where to find it. Think of it as a definitive map of the local arts world, made even sweeter by a whole mess of special deals and freebies.
One of the most popular free events is tomorrow’s Night at the Museums, a smorgasbord for museum-hoppers from 5 to 10 p.m. that waives admission at more than a dozen cultural venues in Denver and Golden, from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to the singular Kirkland Museum, and throws in free shuttles to keep you moving from place to place. Also tomorrow (and also free), families are invited to the McNichols Building, 144 West Colfax Avenue in Civic Center Park, for Chance to Dance, a full afternoon of perform-ances, workshops and kid-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

But before you think about stepping on the bus, start your tour tonight with Denver Arts Week’s traditional opener, Know Your Arts First Friday, an amped-up version of what typically happens monthly in Denver’s many designated art districts. From 5 to 8 p.m., some galleries are even offering one-night-only $52.80 deals on original artworks. And that’s just the beginning. Denver Arts Week runs through November 9; visit denver.org/denverartsweek for an interactive guide to all planned activities and offers.
