The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art wants to stimulate you all weekend long with MediaLive 2013, an interactive audiovisual experience featuring ten artists with live-music accompaniment. “This four-day festival presents a variety of approaches, discusses the technology and underlying theoretical, formal and conceptual considerations, and offers opportunities to explore live media tools,” explains event co-curator Janet Feder.
“I think what’s great about MediaLive is how it brings together artists and the Colorado community for a few days for some engaging performances and conversation,” adds participating multimedia artist Mario Zoots. “A lot of times, I tell people what I do with live cinema and interactive art and they have no clue what I’m talking about. MediaLive allows them to experience new media arts firsthand.”
The action at this second edition of MediaLive starts tonight at 6 p.m. with a lecture by artist Miwa Matreyek at the ATLAS Institute, 1125 18th Street on the University of Colorado’s Boulder campus. Artists will be presenting work through the weekend at BMoCA and other Boulder locations; check bmoca.org for the full schedule of performances, parties and hands-on workshops, as well as to reserve tickets, $18 daily or $35 to $45 for a full-festival pass.
