Now Mercado is closing out the Cruel Autumn series with the film, an oddball artifact of ’80s horror that works as a sort of sampler platter of horror’s greatest hits. “The person who made it clearly said, ‘I’m a horror fan, and I’m going to put all my favorite movies into it,’” Mercado says. “It’s just such a fun, bizarre, weird movie.”
As usual, the evening will feature themed drink specials and handmade souvenirs tied to the film, plus Mercado will unveil the theme and films for the Cruel Winter series, which starts in January. The film starts at 7:30 p.m. at Crash 45, 321 East 45th Avenue, but get there early for the good seats. Admission is always free. For more info, visit tiny.cc/cruelautumn.
