What emerged is Venus Goes Down: A Myth for the New Millennium, a monthlong series of cultural programming that will culminate tonight in an interactive laboratory performance in which the Divine Feminine and Masculine will be united through a modern re-imagining of the ancient Sumerian myth of the descent of Inanna. Incorporating art, music, poetry, dance and ritual, the performance tells the story of “a powerful 21st-century woman who delves into the darkness and emerges reborn to a more integrated world,” Hart says. Live music from Shiva’s Garden and a discussion will accompany the piece.
Resurrect the goddess tonight at 8 p.m. at Skylite Station, 910 Santa Fe Drive. Tickets, $5, are available at the door. For more information, visit venusgoesdown.com and facebook.com/VenusGoesDownNewMillenium.
