“It’s a small festival, and we choose very carefully,” says artistic director Howie Movshovitz. “We can simply choose the very best films we want, and we can put together a program that has a sort of balance that interests us.”
Mike Mashon of the Library of Congress will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and lead a conversation with film archivist David Shepard. “They’re both great fun and have a gazillion stories to tell, and they’re really smart and insightful and understanding,” Movshovitz adds.
The festival begins at 8 p.m. tonight at the King Center, 855 Lawrence Way on the Auraria campus, and runs through tomorrow. To view the full schedule and purchase tickets, $12 per screening, visit denversilentfilmfest.org.
