Brew Crew

To help celebrate Colorado Craft Beer Week, the Colorado Brewers Guild wanted to put on a truly special event. And that’s how the inaugural Collaboration Fest was conceived — because what better way to promote craft beer than through one-of-a-kind brews created by multiple breweries?

“Breweries literally work together every day, whether they’re down the block or across the state or the country,” says Guild spokesman Steve Kurowski. “Brewers share equipment, ingredients, ideas; they go to each other’s breweries and drink each other’s beers. So we put out a request to all of our brewers to team up with at least one other brewery and brew a beer for this event.”

The result is about forty collaborative beers, 90 percent of which will only be available at the festival. There will also be small bites, breakout sessions and a chance for attendees to talk shop with the brewers themselves. “This is going to be an amazing chance to see how these craft breweries work together,” says Kurowski, “and it’ll be a hard festival to beat, because these beers won’t be available in a liquor store or in a bar or pub.”
