This weekend, KITH fans and novice improvisers alike will have the opportunity not just to see McDonald perform live, but also to sign up for a two-day intensive sketch-writing program with him at Voodoo Comedy Playhouse.
“We’re pretty excited for Kevin McDonald to be gracing the stage,” says Voodoo producer/improviser Justin Franzen. “He’s someone that I’ve admired since I was a kid. Being able to take his class and share the stage with him are two things I never thought I’d say that I get to do. Throughout this whole process, he’s been great to work with.”
McDonald will begin the weekend tonight at 9 p.m. at Voodoo, 1260 22nd Street, with a special edition of The Couch, Denver’s only improvised therapy session. He’s also scheduled to perform his own improvised sketch show tomorrow night starting at 8 p.m. Tickets for both shows are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The sketch-writing workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday; the fee is $300. For information and reservations, visit voodoocomedy.com.
