“If we are going to figure out what we want and how to get there as a community, it is important to know our past but also dream about the future,” Weissman says. “This LGBTQ-specific gathering is meant to celebrate successes and triumphs, while also looking at struggles. It is a gathering for everyone, because queer life touches everyone.”
Interested participants are encouraged to submit a song prior to the event, but are also welcome to bring a track along; Warm Cookies promises that all CDs, MP3s, cassettes and vinyl will be accommodated. If music doesn’t suit your fancy, an object with meaning will work, too.
The Show and Tell Mix Tape begins at 6 p.m. at the McNichols Building, 144 West Colfax Avenue. The evening is free, though donations are welcome. Cookies, milk and milk alternatives will be provided. For more information, visit warmcookiesoftherevolution.org.
