“Four Mile is a place where we interpret and preserve Colorado history, and this event allows us to bring our national history into the picture as well,” says the park’s MacKenzie Pacifico. The Denver Concert Band will entertain with songs of the era, while the 1st Colorado Volunteer Infantry will share what life was like for both citizens and soldiers of the Old West. And in a nod to more modern traditions, the family-friendly gathering will have hamburgers and hot dogs for sale, along with other special treats.
The Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Four Mile Historic Park, 715 South Forest Street. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for youth and seniors, and free for children two and under. For more information, call 720-865-0800 or visit fourmilepark.org.
