I saw this show last week-end and I thought it was AWESOME! The entire cast was very strong compared to other shows I've seen at the Vintage or around town. I see a show at least once a month in Denver and love, love live theater!
I completely disagree that Rachelle Wood, who plays Mabel only played to the comic side of her character. When she was heartbroken, I felt it and I actually cried at the end of the show. Knowing that these characters were real people, makes it all the more sad. The night I saw the show, there was such vulnerability and tears that welled up in her eyes. It seemed very genuine! And her voice is like butter! I thought she was AMAZING!!! My only criticism would be that I didn't love her wig, I've seen her in other shows and Rachelle actually has beautiful hair, so I wasn't fan of the wig. : )
Keegan Flaugh as Mack was also really solid and I loved the chemistry between these two. His voice is strong and beautiful and he portrays Mack as the self centered jerk that he was!I! Totally believable! I also loved the supporting cast! Gosh, they were good! The music is fun and it was nice to see a show set 100 years ago. Fun to learn a little more about the development of silent films. Yo will love the music and you will love Mack and Mabel!
This is a great night of theater in Denver! Totally worth the price of admission! Go check it out!
