Colorado Wilderness 50 Tour at the American Mountaineering Center (Wednesday) In 1964, the Wilderness Act created the legal definition of wilderness as "an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain" -- and protected many square miles of that untrammeled land.
