Despite the beefed-up security in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, the BolderBoulder will move forward today, as it has every Memorial Day since 1979. The first waves of Boulder’s storied 10K run start at 7 a.m. at 30th and Walnut streets, setting in motion a spectacle that includes every kind of athlete: runner, jogger, walker, team, wheelchair-bound, costumed and more. You name it, there’s a category or age group for it. But the race is also famously fun for those on the sidelines, and the crowds are prodigious, there to cheer on their friends, enjoy the live musicians spread out along the course (thirty bands and entertainers have been booked)and generally share in the glory that is the BolderBoulder. The culmination, as always, takes place when participants run right into the heart of Folsom Field, 2400 Colorado Avenue; finishers can then cross the street to party and pick up swag at the Race Day Expo.
