Summer evenings at the Denver Botanic Gardens are something to be savored, and that’s why the growing concern at 1007 York Street hosts themed Sunset Strolls from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every second Wednesday throughout the season. Tonight’s installment sounds especially dreamy: It’s a Great Gatsby promenade that invites you to dress up, try your hand at croquet, dine on a Gatsby picnic basket from the DBG’s Offshoots Cafe (or bring your own) or just amble through the roses to live ragtime until the sun begins to set. And to bring the mood full circle, the DBG has hired Watch Your Step! Vintage Dance Vignettes, a local troupe dedicated to well-researched and choreographed early twentieth-century period dance and dress. “We’ll be performing some dances from the ’20s and ’30s, and we’ll also do some teaching for anyone who wants to try the Charleston, the Black Bottom, the Big Apple and the Shim Sham,” says Watch Your Step! founder Dorothy Vernon. That’s puttin’ on the Ritz!
