Jenny Morgan: Kith and Kin, at Plus Gallery, will focus first and foremost on the painter's work, but also on her longstanding relationship with Plus. Morgan happens to have been the very first intern at the then-fledgling space in 2003; since then, her relationship with gallery owner Ivar Zeile has grown into that of artist and art dealer.
Morgan's work is typified by color-saturated nudes that blend real portraiture with conceptual ideas. Aside from having exhibited several times at Plus, she has spent the better part of the last decade working out of New York City, painting commissions for the likes of The New York Times and showing her art in London and Miami, among other places.
"Obviously, she started in this market, building a relationship to people who are interested in her work, and that is very real to her," Zeile says. "In a lot of ways, I can look at her and say that Jenny has shown an almost perfect career."
