Socialite Holly Kylberg's Clock Tower Events will do something a little different for New Year's Eve this year: open up the historic Daniels & Fisher clock tower for a glitzy party that's, well, sort of above it all. A Magical New Year's Eve Russian Winter Ball -- space extremely limited -- will extend a bit of old-world elegance to the fancy-dress themed celebration (think Anna Karenina), with appropriate decorations and a bow to the tower's place in local history. The idea, says event spokesman Eric Elkins, is that "people can have this beautiful, elegant experience and still see the downtown fireworks, right at eye level, from private balconies in the tower." And rather than freezing to death on the street with the reveling hoi polloi below, they can just slip back inside for a full bar and buffet, plus dancing to the well-placed spins of DJ “Rockczar” Aaron, all behind the tower's ticking clock faces. "Not many people get the chance to go up on the top floor of the clock tower," notes Elkins. "It's a cool place to be." And how.

Splurge a little: The Russian Winter Ball, which benefits Denver Gives, begins at 8:30 p.m.; tickets, which will go fast, are $120. To make reservations, find the ticket-sales link at www.clocktowerevents.com/events.html.
