Held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 22, at the Rockin' West Caravan in Wheat Ridge, the party will feature live music by a stable of local country bands, including Hot Posse, Lorraine and Mountain Gold, Hot Iron Band and the Karen Osburn Band. And while some Christmas carols are bound to be played, this is definitely a country hoedown -- so expect lots of boot stompin' and partner swingin' out on the dance floor. "It's just a good ol' country Christmas gathering," says Scotty Hannum, the event's chairman. "Every year, we all have a good time, especially knowing that it is for a good cause."
The Western gala is a benefit for Champa House, a Denver shelter for single mothers; admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring a donation of clothing or toys. "Last year we filled up one yellow school bus and three vans with lots of great stuff for Champa House," says Hannum. "They don't necessarily have to be new items, but just in good shape."
Santa Claus will be holding court for the kiddies at the family-friendly Gathering, and a silent auction and plenty of home-style food should keep the adults occupied -- when they're not on the dance floor, that is. So corral everyone and move 'em out to the Rockin' West, 11211 West 44th Avenue in Wheat Ridge. For further information, call 303-478-8719.
