Regina Benson, Catching Fire Ice Cube Gallery Through October 11 Opening reception: 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 19 Free

Fiber artist Regina Benson works big, as you'll quickly learn at Catching Fire, her new solo show opening tonight at Ice Cube. The installation of eleven meticulously dyed, nine-foot-tall monoliths addresses the volatile specter of increased wildfires in the face of climate change. Visit the gallery on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; Benson will also give an artist talk and demonstration at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27.

VSA Arts/Access Gallery, a nonprofit that serves people with disabilities through art-making experiences, is throwing its annual fundraiser, 99 Pieces of Art on the Wall, a gigantic art sale of small-but-potent art. Ninety-nine artists contributed works on ten-by-ten-inch particle-board; prices for the tiny treasures range from $50 to $250. It's not an auction, and you can carry home any purchased pieces tonight; to prepare yourself, preview the works online before you go.

Friday Flash No. 8: 2014 Artwork Commissions Denver Theatre District 8 p.m. Friday, September 19 Afterparty: 9 p.m., Plus Gallery Free

The Denver Theatre District and Denver Digerati conclude this year's Friday Flash series of motion-based art/digital animation screenings on the giant LED screen at 14th and Champa streets tonight with a program featuring the project's seven commissioned works, by artists both local and national. Join other art-goers in the streets to enjoy these eye-popping works, then head over to Plus Gallery for an after-party with more screenings -- on the gallery walls -- of Denver Digerati content created over the last few years.

Denver abstract painter Lisa Kowalski goes black-and-white to explore the bare bones of shape, form and contrast for this exhibition of fifteen large-sale oils on birch panels. If you miss the opening tonight, there'll be a second reception on October 3.

Michael Benninghoven's lowbrow palace, Love Gallery, continues to celebrate its big move to the Colfax strip with a group love letter to the "the longest and wickedest street in America." More than 25 artists participated; if you love Colfax and all of its gritty lore, you'll love this show.

Nothing to See Here, the experimental video forum curated by Christina Battle and Adán De La Garza, explores the angst of growing up in it's not a phase, a program of short video works by De La Garza, Leslie Supnet, Ben Russell, Scott Treleaven, Mike Mills, Danny Plotnick, Harmony Korine and others. Doors open at 8 p.m.; screenings start at 8:30 in the intimate confines of the Sidewinder.
