Though pot's what's on the whole city's mind this marijuan-derful 4/20 weekend, the local art scene will not go up in smoke. Here are three reminders that Denver galleries serve up good vibes and even better shows every weekend of the year.
Lizzi Bougatsos Dikeou Pop-Up: Colfax, 312 East Colfax Avenue Opening reception: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 18
The Dikeou Pop-Up, the wandering cousin of private Dikeou Collection gallery, is on the move from the Golden Triangle to new digs on East Colfax in the former Jerry's Records space at 312 East Colfax Avenue. To christen the spot, Gang Gang Dance vocalist, artist and style icon Lizzi Bougatsos will be in town with fun and stylish works that satirize celebrity. She'll be spinning vinyl from the famous Dikeou record collection at tonight's reception from 7 to 9 p.m. and giving an artist's talk tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Claudia Roulier, The Hungry and the Hunted CORE New Art Space April 17 through May 3 Opening reception: 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 18
Claudia Roulier, who is also currently showing work in Scrounge at Republic Plaza, will fill CORE (where she's sharing space with fellow artist Daniel House Kelly) with paintings and mixed-media assemblage works on an animal theme at tonight's reception. From 6 to 8 p.m., Renegade Brewing will be running a tasting table for gallery-goers.
Rocky Mountain High Gildar Gallery April 19 through May 24 Opening reception: 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 19
There's a joke embedded in this Colorado-themed group show, which aims to challenge the mythological West and its pristine and romantic Rocky Mountains with a dab of humor and a shot of reality. The exhibition's fourteen artists range from L.A. revisionist Frohawk Two Feathers to a rich vein of Denver bedrock, including Phil Bender and the Flying O.H.N.O. Twins (aka Donald Fodness and Alvin Gregario). Gildar Gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays.
