No, this isn't the re-release of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back; it's an all-new, one-night-only event titled Kevin Smith: Live From Behind Featuring "Jay and Silent Bob Get Old" -- and it will screen at eleven different movie theaters across Colorado.
The three-hour film contains two parts: One will feature Jay and Silent Bob hosting their popular podcast, "Jay and Silent Bob Get Old," and the second will be a live, interactive question-and-answer session wherein Smith will connect directly with audience members across the country via social-media networks.
Smith and Mewes started the podcast when Mewes relapsed -- after spending six years sober -- on post-surgery painkillers. "Kevin asked why I went back to getting high every day and abusing drugs again after six years," Mewes remembers, "and I thought it was because I hadn't been going to meetings and talking about it; I wasn't accountable to anybody. And he said, 'Why don't you and I do a podcast, and we can talk about everything that's going on -- how we met, how you started using drugs -- and not only will you be talking about stuff, you'll be accountable to everybody who listens.'"
That said, don't expect a sad-sack extended D.A.R.E. session. "You never know what you'll hear or see," Mewes says, "and you can do it with a hot dog and a bag of popcorn in your lap."
The show starts at 7:30 p.m.; visit www.fathomevents.com for a full list of participating theaters in Colorado (there are fifteen) and to purchase tickets, $15.
