First impressions often turn out to be accurate, which is what the folks at Weed Dating are counting on as they host their singles event tonight. But rather than sit in a bar and motor through multiple dates, as traditional speed dating dictates, potential Weed matches will meet eyes across rows of vegetables outdoors at Sprout City Farms.
“We were just looking for a way to help people who are interested in sustainability and urban farming to meet other people who are interested in the same kind of thing,” says Alison Hatch. “We’re trying to provide a dating venue for our aspiring food producers.”

Daters will arrive at 6 p.m. at the Denver Green School Community Farm, 6700 East Virginia Avenue, to chat about sustainability and look for love on the farm. Hatch says that light refreshments, along with conversation starters, will be provided. The $15 ticket price for meeting mates among the greenery will go toward the nonprofit’s work to provide food access and community education. A limited number of tickets are available at eventbrite.com/event/6904488511. For more information on Weed Dating and Sprout City Farms, go to sproutcityfarms.org.
