If noshing on some gluten-based seitan buffalo wings or sipping a vegan chocolate shake sounds nutritious, delicious and earth-friendly, then head down to today's Denver VegFest and Health Expo presented by the Vegetarian Society of Colorado.
The Society's focus is on three areas: health, sustainability and compassion, says CJ Eliassen, director of VegFest. We try to educate people about the health aspect of vegetarianism doing less damage to the environment and showing compassion toward animals.
This year's expo features more than eighty vendors Vitamin Cottage, WaterCourse Foods, the all-vegan boutique Ahimsa Footwear and Sweet Action Ice Cream among them along with non-profit organizations and health and fitness booths. Panzano restaurant and several local chefs will give vegan cooking demonstrations (with samples, of course), and ten speakers including Shaun Monson, director of the documentary film Earthlings, about human dependence on animals will present throughout the day,.
