Lights, Camera, Lots of Action!

The world-famous Banff Mountain Film Festival in Canada’s Banff National Park begins on October 29 and is well worth the cost of a plane ticket. For a teaser a bit closer to home, though, check out the Radical Reels Tour, which stops in Golden for a two-night engagement featuring nine action-packed films and shorts from last year’s festival.

“They boil it down to the most high-adrenaline films from the festival in Banff, featuring all kinds of extreme mountain sports,” says Sarah Gorecki, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Mountain Club. “This year there are snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, skateboarding, BASE jumping and kayaking films that will just take your breath away.”

The program runs at 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at the American Mountaineering Center, 710 Tenth Street in Golden. Last year’s screenings sold out, so pick up advance tickets, $10, at or at metro-area REI stores. Proceeds benefit the Colorado Mountain Club’s programs as it enters 2012, its centennial year.
