When I was twelve, Escape From New York was the coolest movie ever. Snake Plissken was my hero, my idol. He was tough, tattooed, fearless and had an awesome action mullet. He got shot in the leg and, hours later, managed to kill a dude three times his size in hand-to-hand combat. Whats not to love?
Upon reflection, plenty. The premise is ridiculous, the plot is stupid, and really, Snakes kind of a dick. But I still love it, even as I snicker through every viewing.
