Reyna Von Vett’s alter ego, Cora Vette, has been emceeing burlesque events at Bender’s Tavern for the past few months, but the time has come to move on. “Bender’s was awesome,” Von Vett enthuses, but she’s excited about getting back into a theater space. “We’re going to add back a piano, so we’ll be able to do a lot more live singing and do a lot of the more obscure songs that I haven’t been able to do lately. There’s a lot of stuff that I’ve been dying to do, but the recordings just don’t exist,” she notes.

Von Vett’s burlesque group, now rebranded Burlycute, is opening up a brand-new show tonight at the Crossroads Theater, A Naughty Vaudeville. “This is going to be all old-timey vintage numbers,” Von Vett explains. “Cora Vette sings ‘Hot Nuts and Hot Dogs’ in sparkle vinyl.” Your favorite burlesque stars will be back, too — Vivienne VaVoom, Frangelica Love, Sinthea La Fée and Whoopsie Daisy, assisted by stage kitten Petra Pusé. “Sinthea is our fairy who dances en pointe and strips,” Von Vett says. “Crossroads has a great dancing surface, so she’ll be able to do the pointe numbers.”

Von Vett has lots of plans for the future, but for now, you can catch A Naughty Vaudeville at Crossroads, 2590 Washington Street, every Wednesday at 8 p.m. through the end of May. Tickets are $15; visit www.burlycute.com.
Wednesdays, 8 p.m. Starts: May 12. Continues through May 26, 2010
