Among the highlights are the original musicals Harry Potter and the Musical and Criminal Minds: The Musical. Both are parodies that Leonard calls jukebox musicals, where the cast writes the dialogue and then adapts popular songs with joke lyrics. On a more serious note is Knockout, a musical written and composed by student Raechel Sherwood about the travails of a modern woman. Theres also a band (Ivory Drive), a film premiere (Captured, a student-made short thriller), and several performances of more established works, from Samuel Beckett-penned shorts to Cyrano de Bergerac.
And then theres the variety show. And improv. And workshops. And a drag show. And about a million other little things.
The student-run fest is all free; it begins tonight and runs through the weekend in the Theatre and Dance Building on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus. For a full schedule and other information, visit http://cuonstage.edublogs.org.
