Raging Hormones

Some performers can keep an audience in stitches but can’t keep a tune. It’s tough to find a balance between comedic and musical talent; a singer with a beautiful voice might not have a great sense of humor, and a great comedian might not be melodically gifted. That’s why the Four Bitchin’ Babes are special: They’re talented musicians who also happen to be freakin’ hilarious. “All of them are very good singers; they’ve written hits for some of the coolest people ever, and they have crazy long lists of credits to their names,” notes Swallow Hill Music Association’s Laura McGaughey. “And they’re just as comedic with their writing and performance as they are artistic with their abilities and instrumentalism.”

So gather together your best girlfriends (and an appreciative boyfriend or two) for Hormonal Imbalance…A Mood Swinging Musical Revue, a sometimes poignant, sometimes funny, always fantastic collection of original songs on balancing career and family, chocolate obsession, finding inner peace in a low-carb world, inadequate pay and inadequately styled swimwear.

The Babes start swinging tonight at 8 p.m. at Swallow Hill, 71 East Yale Avenue; tickets are $28 to $32 and available at www.swallowhillmusic.org or by calling 303-777-1003.
Fri., June 26, 8 p.m., 2009
