RedLine's annual Artist Bacchanal goes West for an Art Rodeo
RedLine is both a showplace and a godsend for its resident artists, who have two years to work there and show the results, both in and out of the built-in community it fosters. It's also an elegant gallery space that accommodates every kind of art, from multimedia and photography to installations and performances. And when RedLine throws a party, it does so with the same contemporary lightness and sense of togetherness. That's the overall ambience you'll encounter there Saturday night, when the venue throws its fourth annual Artist Bacchanal benefit -- this year sporting an Art Rodeo theme.

Wild West gear and fancy rodeo togs are the preferred attire at the event, which aims to juxtapose the spirit of the West with a contemporary setting, as if to say, "We're not in Cowtown anymore, Toto...." But that doesn't mean guests won't have fun with the Western connotations. Music by the Hummin'Birds, mechanical bull-riding, rope tricks and Western-style eats are all in the mix, and when RedLine resident and contemporary artist Laura Shill snaps you a $10 keepsake photo, the props will befit a prairie prince or princess.
There will also be a silent auction and sale of $100 foot-square donated artworks. And each letter of resident Rebecca Vaughan's one-night light installation spelling out "Art Rodeo" will also be for sale as mementos. It all happens against the backdrop of RedLine's annual resident show, An Invisible Boundary, with a preview of the documentary Hanna Ranch, which officially premieres at the upcoming Starz Denver Film Festival.
