Whether you’re a fan of the classic Western or just want to kick back with a cocktail and a film, tonight’s screening of Open Range leads off another big year of the Movie and a Martini series at the Wildlife Experience. The evening, which includes a showing of the film in Blu-ray format on a forty-by-sixty-foot HD screen coupled with an assortment of alcoholic beverages, allows viewers to take in films from cinema’s golden age, as well as newer favorites, in an adult atmosphere.
“We just wanted to bring out the drinking public, people who actually want to enjoy a drink and watch a movie,” says Wildlife Experience spokesman Greg Masinton. Open Range falls under the series’ “Whiskey and a Western” offshoot, which matches whiskey drinks and homemade barbecue with Westerns. Upcoming installments will also include like-minded beverage pairings: February’s showing of Casablanca, for instance, comes with a specially mixed martini, and patrons of May’s Strange Brew will get a local craft beer sampling.
