School Days

Alamo Drafthouse Littleton’s September programming is all about back-to-school themes — and Mean Girls is the perfect choice for a quote-along, notes Alamo spokesman Keith Garcia. “When you think about movies that bring back all the feelings, good and bad, about being in school, Mean Girls is right at the top. And as a quote-along, Tina Fey did such an amazing job of writing that screenplay that there are so many good bon mots and lines.” (It also could be the last film in which you get to see Lindsay Lohan portraying any kind of innocence on screen and not feel the need to snicker.)

The point of a quote-along, Garcia explains, is not to shout along with every line in the movie — “because that would be a messy free-for-all,” he says. Instead, there will be a host and props, and subtitles will appear before the quote-along lines, with those particular words highlighted so the audience can join in (even if you don’t know the film by heart).

Catch the story of a girl attending her first-ever public high school after spending her childhood in Africa (and the hilarity that ensues as she tries to infiltrate the popular clique) at the Drafthouse, 7301 South Santa Fe Drive in Littleton, as part of the cinema’s “Girlie Night” offerings; screenings are tonight at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:45 p.m. There will be drink specials for the grownups in the audience; children ages six to seventeen must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $12.50. Visit for information.
Fri., Sept. 13, 7 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 15, 2:45 p.m., 2013
