Its just another one of those silly things we decided to do on a whim. We dont know anything about musicals, just like none of us knew how to ice skate before we made Kafka on Ice. But were all really the jump-in-with-two-feet kind of people.
Buntport Theater troupe member Erin Rollmans comments pretty much define the concept behind the companys first-ever musical, Seal. Stamp. Send. Bang. and just about everything else Buntport has ever done. It does help, she adds, that the music for this postal-service-themed bit of froth was written by someone with a knack for it: Adam Stone, a friend the players made while teaching a workshop at their alma mater, Colorado College, whose synth-poppy score and lyrics drive home how interconnected we all really are. But, Rollman notes, Its a musical in the same way that any Buntport show is anything. We try to be playful with any format were using, but we also try to not make it too traditional. This is not a sendup. We're really doing a musical. Its just that its one thats different from any others.
