Fancy gourmet restaurants might have some tasty grub, but it's tough to beat Mom's home-cooked meals. It's surprising, then, that women accounted for only about one-fifth of all executive chefs and head cooks in 2005, according to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Females on Fire chips away at the gender disparity by hosting a five-course menu with wine pairings tonight at Jax Fish House, 1539 17th Street. The feast, which begins at 6 p.m., will be prepared by ten of Denver's finest female chefs, including Jax's own Sheila Lucero, and will benefit the Females on Fire Culinary Scholarship at Johnson & Wales University.
