Santa is coming! Lots of Santas are coming! As part of this year's lighting ceremony, Breckenridge is introducing Race of the Santas, which is exactly what it sounds like. "It involves a hundred Santas sprinting, running, jogging and skipping down Main Street," explains Breck spokeswoman Rachel Zerowin. "The idea is to populate downtown Breckenridge with a mass of Santa Clauses."
And you can be part of the Kris Kringle crush: Registration is $20, and that gets you a Santa suit to keep while also making a donation to Adopt an Angel Summit County. The charitable foundation will act as the real Santa Claus, using fun-run dollars to buy toys for kids in need. And after the race, which is just a four-block run down Main Street, all the Santas will grab toys and hand them out to kids in the crowd. The run starts at 4 p.m. at 100 South Main Street, with staging at 3:30 p.m. at Blue River Plaza. To register, e-mail email@example.com or call 970-453-5074.

The race is just part of the lighting-ceremony lineup, which also includes an appearance by the real Santa, the illumination of the town's Christmas tree, and free hot cocoa for all. Find the complete schedule at www.gobreck.com.
