The Summit Foundation claims that the hockey match-ups between rival institutions — police personnel versus fire personnel, Copper versus Vail — slated for the Summit Foundation Hockey Classic fundraiser are friendly. But anyone who has ever seen a hockey game knows that neither "friendly" nor "amiable" (or, for that matter, "cordial") are appropriate adjectives.

And hockey games aren't the only "friendly" competitions taking place in Breckenridge today and tomorrow. If you really want to see some bloodshed — or possibly tears — attend the Texas Hold 'Em Celebrity Challenge tonight at 9 p.m. at Cecilia's, 520 South Main Street. The tournament, hosted by pro-footballer and Colorado native Jeremy Bloom, is the first of three activities that make up the Pro-Celebrity Union, a D-list-studded accent to the Hockey Classic, with parties, award ceremonies, a comedy show featuring T-Rexx and live performances by Nina Storey, Hearing Red, Xiren and more.

The puck drops tonight at 5 p.m. at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, 189 Boreas Pass Road. Event tickets range from $10 to $50; concerts are free. Call 1-970-453-5970 or go to www.summitfoundation.org for tickets and a full schedule.
Thu., April 12, 9 p.m.
