Brittany Spears puts on a great show. Her dynamic performances have impressed crowds all over the country, consistently earning her awards while helping build a fan base that should only grow bigger by the year. And she has yet to spend any time in a psych ward.
Unlike her famous namesake, University of Colorado basketball star Brittany Spears is discernibly talented, leading all Big 12 freshmen in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Tonight at the Coors Event Center on the CU-Boulder campus, Spears leads the CU Women's Basketball team against the Missouri Tigers in the final home game of the regular season. The game (which will also be broadcast on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain) starts at 7 p.m.; tickets are $10 to $15.
The emergence of Spears twice named the Big 12 rookie of the week has helped catalyze the steadily improving Buffs. The team's 14-11 record is already one win ahead of its final tally from last year, and the play of Spears, sophomore Bianca Smith and senior Jackie McFarland should put the Buffs in position to make a run in the Big 12 tournament, which kicks off March 11.
