The latest skate videos from Royal Stain, Meta Skateboards, Crisis, FOZine
Snowboarding season is getting into full swing up in the mountains, with resorts opening by the day (Steamboat and Eldora opened their 50th anniversary seasons this week, and Beaver Creek and Crested Butte are also now spinning chairs in time for Thanksgiving), but you wouldn't know it down here in Denver. Weather forecasters here are so bored they've been hitting the thesaurus to look up synonyms for "mild." Since urban snow jibs just aren't happening yet, here's a roundup of what's new from our local skateboarding crews to tide you over.
Tristan Minton's H-DTS: Mile High Alumni, the sequel to his Down to Skate Royal Stain video, will be premiering in December and features Julian Christianson (a Westword Best of Denver 2012 winner), Andrew Smith, Phil Hansen, Cody Schulze, Spencer Semien, Travis Emmite, and Wyatt Milhollan.
Boulder's Meta Skateboards dropped a new promo for The Holy Crail, due out in Spring 2013 and featuring Max Garson, Jack Spanbauer, Josh Steele, JJ Jensen, Collin Mitchell, Sean Flaherty, and Davis Lonergan, among others.
Blaine Davies put together a special edit to mark the two year anniversary at the Crisis Skateboards shop in Broomfield last month:
Also from Davies, here's Chris Schwartz making the most of the Northglenn Skate Park:
Local filmmaker Connor Erickson profiles local shop owners Jeremy Frankovis (Crisis Skateboards) and Michael Parris (Community Skateboards) in this feel-good manifesto:
And if the feel-good vibe's not your thing, try this rough-and-tumble teaser for the third video zine from FOZine editor Rob Stamm, due out in 2013 with profiles of Julian Christianson, Matt Pennington, and Brian Patch:
