You know the type: usually defined as a bit geeky and a tad cool, with a penchant to blow their cold hard cash on twelve-inch plastic platters.They’re record collectors.

Perhaps it’s the satisfying crackle of a needle on vinyl or the lovingly crafted artwork that accompanies an LP, but records are back in a big way. If you’re a veteran crate-digger or just a collectible nutcase, the Denver Record Collector’s Fall Expo, stacked full of vendors with a wide variety of music-related goods, is for you.

This is the Expo’s seventeenth year, and the established locale has paid off: Vendors from around the country will be on hand to turn over their wares at nearly 100 different tables. “It’s great for anyone in the market for old vinyl, but we also have tons of other stuff, like posters, cassettes, DVDs, CDs and even eight-tracks,” says expo organizer Kurt Ohlen. Local shops like Wax Trax and Angelo’s will be on site as well.

The expo is at the Red Lion Hotel Southeast, 3200 South Parker Road in Aurora, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today; admission is $2. For more information, call 303-455-8408 or visit www.bigk.com.
