Tonight: The No Pants Party is exactly what it sounds like
Hopefully you're familiar with the concept of no pants; between the New York subway rides (or Denver Light Rail rides), the drunken college parties and the official observation of No Pants Day on the first Friday of each May, you'd have to be seriously remiss in your pants-related news responsibilities to have managed to ignore no pants activities for this long. Tonight, you can help celebrate No Pants Day with like-minded (pantsless) individuals at the No Pants Party.
Co-organizer Ross Carpenter is one of the men behind the Denver No Pants Light Rail Ride, which he says is "one of the largest in the nation. So we have a good no-pants community here."
Carpenter is also a co-founder of the Benevolent Citizens Project, which helps raise funds and awareness for different non-profit organizations. This round's beneficiary is DenverWorks, which provides assistance for job seekers. "One of the main things is getting work attire," notes Carpenter -- so, of course, he plans to have a pants donation at the event (and you can bring other clothing items if you like, too).
"It's really just going to be a party," he adds. "We'll have a raffle, maybe some dancing, and 32 participants can join in a Connect Four tournament for free, and there will be a prize, so that's a good incentive to get there early. And everybody who doesn't wear pants will have drink specials. They're hooking us up with some good stuff."
Stuff like $2 sixteen-ounce Bud Light drafts and $3 shot specials, plus prizes for top costumes.
"You can wear pretty much anything but pants," Carpenter says; you can get some ideas on the event website, denvernopants.com.
The No Pants Party starts at 9 p.m. tonight at the Ginn Mill, 2041 Larimer Street, and is free to attend -- but there is a $2 fee to check your pants at the door.
