We've been dutifully posting news of just about every ski & snowboard film premiere in the area this month -- yes, we're just as stoked for the snowy season as you are -- and here comes the motherlode: Head up to Aspen's Wheeler Opera House tonight for The Meeting, Aspen's 6th annual ski and snowboard film festival, and catch damn near every last one of this year's new flicks. The three-day film fest doubles as ski-porn industry powwow, which means you'll get to meet most of the filmmakers and party with many of the featured athletes. Need a quick fix now? Trailers galore, after the jump.
The Meeting kicks off tonight at the Wheeler with the NEPSA Awards (that's Aspen, spelled backwards), featuring shorts by local filmmakers, followed by a gondola ride to see the 10 p.m. screening of TGR's Light the Wick at Aspen Mountain's Sundeck.
On Friday, the action gets underway at 5pm with Aspen local Chris Davensport's Australis: An Antarctic Ski Odyssey and Poor Boyz Productions' Revolver in Screening #1.
Screening #2 on Friday (doors at 8 p.m.) features TransWorld Snowboarding's In Color and Volcom's 9191.
Friday night's party moves to the Belly Up (doors at 9 p.m.) for Eye Trip, from Denver-based Level 1 Productions, and Say My Name, Stan Evans' documentary following Grete Eliassen and other top female skiers.
On Saturday it's back to the Wheeler Opera House at 4:30 p.m. for Jeremy Jones' Deeper: A Snowboard Adventure Into the Unknown from Teton Gravity Research, and Standard Films' The Storming.
Saturday's ski session at the Wheeler (doors at 8p.m.) features Aspen local Tyler Sableford's documentary The Fall Line, about Iraq war veteran Heath Calhoun's journey to the paralympics, and The Way I see It from Matchstick Productions.
And, finally, The Meeting concludes on Saturday night with a Bone Thugs N Harmony (!) performance at Belly Up and screenings of Pirate Movie Productions' Hooked and Forum Snowboards' Fuck It. See you in Aspen?
