What's Shakin'?

If Boulder is the "foodiest" town in the country -- a declaration made by Bon Appetit magazine -- then can its cocktail scene be far behind? You'll have the opportunity to judge for yourself tonight, when bar stars from Aji, Hapa Sushi, Oak at 14th, the Pinyon, the Kitchen, Riff's Urban Fare, SALT and the West End Tavern congregate at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art to take part in Boulder's Best Mixologist competition.

The showdown will feature cocktails shaken and stirred using products from 303 Vodka, a locally distillery. "We have such great restaurants in this town, but we also have excellent mixologists, and this event gives them the opportunity to be as inventive and creative as they want, with the winner walking away with bragging rights and a cool, custom-designed trophy," says Terri Takata-Smith, spokeswoman for event co-producer Downtown Boulder.

The mixing begins at 4:30 p.m. at BMoCA, 1750 13th Street. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door, with a portion of the proceeds going to BMoCA. Buy yours at www.boulderdowntown.com or by calling 303-449-3774.
