It was the Best of times, it was the worst of times — or pretty darn close, as a massive blizzard shut down the Front Range just as we were putting the finishing touches on the Best of Denver 2003, our twentieth annual compendium of everything from the Best Burger to the Best Monument to a Cheeseburger. But as the snow melted, this town's noteworthy people, places and things re-emerged with a renewed clarity — thanks to both the unanticipated spring snowstorm-cleaning and our heightened appreciation for a city we could once again see.
