Best -- and Most Missed -- Theatrical Inspiration Denver 2003 - Ernestine Georgianna

The Boulder Rep is still vivid in the minds of most Boulder theater aficionados. Founded by Frank and Ernestine Georgianna in 1974, the company mounted challenging, exquisitely staged contemporary plays and acted in a variety of around-town venues through the year 2000. Frank was a visionary theatrical force through all those years, both as actor and director, but it was Ernestine, executive producer, costume designer, and keenly incisive watcher and critic who kept things humming behind the scenes. Lovingly tended by Frank over the past two years, Ernestine died November 27 of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

A seminal experience in my theatrical career, acting education, and one of the great summers of my life, was working w/ Frank Georgianna in the Boulder Rep production of "All My Sons" staged at the Stanley Hotel in 1978. Ernestine was always a supportive force behind the scene.

Sorry to read of her passing.

I was privileged to have a role in The Little Foxes in the summer of 1977 at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Frank Georgianna was the director, and he was a multi-talented theatrical force. I was inspired by him in many ways. I was very sorry to hear of the death of his beloved Ernestine. She was also a pleasure to work with. I hope this somehow finds its way to Frank, wherever he may be. Best wishes to you Frank, and may God bless.Eric Peterson
