Tried the BBQ Pork and the Grilled Chicken sandwiches for lunch today. Absolutely delicious and what a steal @ 2.75 each !!!Highly recommended.

Banh mi -- Vietnamese sandwiches with a distinctively French twist -- are the plats du jour here, every jour of the week. There are a dozen or so varieties available at the counter, from classic pork p?t? with pork and more pork to spicy pork and barbecued pork and even all-vegetable offerings, all mounted on dwarf baguettes that have the distinctive delicacy of masterful baking. No matter what's on your sandwich, it costs just $2.50, which should leave plenty of change for an iced Vietnamese coffee or lychee soda.

Went to Ban Le based on the listing in Best of. The sandwiches here are awesome. The french bread is done correctly (no honeycombed bottom, indicating it was cooked too quickly at a high temp) and the meat/veg flavor combinations are classic vietnamese. Very tasty vegs (pickled carrots, cilantro, others I can't remember) and fresh (hot) jalepenos. What a great deal at $2.50 a piece!! We have tried almost all of the vietnamese meat versions, but none of the chinese meat versions. Can't go wrong with any of them, but my faves are the pate and the meatball. Chicken is good too, but the grilled pork has more flavor. The only thing is that there's nowhere to sit down, not even a few rickety tables. It's strictly a take-out place. Eating in the car isn't so great, but the sandwiches are so good that we forget about the discomfort!
