We recently heard a local tastemaker heap effusive praise on Michael Trundle: "He's the first one in this town who played Shitdisco." While that may not mean much to non-Shitdisco fans, Trundle and his longtime Denver 3 associate Tyler Jacobson have indeed been turning the masses on to the hottest music with their playlists and frequent listening parties at Lipgloss, the ridiculously successful, long-running weekly club night. The nationally renowned night isn't just a hit with club-goers; it's also become the destination of choice for such luminaries as Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke from the Smiths, as well as a number of touring acts who've been spotted stopping by La Rumba after their own Friday-night shows.

Urgh...I actively avoid anything with Michael Trundle attached to it. He performed arguably the greatest faceplant of a set that I have ever seen when opening for Blaqk Audio at Cervantes last fall. The room was absolutely electric from the minute the doors opened and he proceeded to put his conciderable mixing skills (I'll give him that much) to use playing amongst other things, the super chillness known as the Red Sparrows. Not that it much mattered cause Blaqk Audio was spectacular, but god damn, I have yet to meet worse when it comes to music selection.
Checked out Lip Gloss for the first time last Friday. Had an awesome time! Thanks, and I'll be seeing you guys again and again and again!
DTD and company: You're sort of missing the point of this award. It's not about Trundle and Jacobson's prowess behind the decks; they're non-traditional DJs -- aside from beat matching here and there, no one's expecting them to be turntablists. With that in mind, the pair were bestowed with this award based strictly upon their sensibilities. That said, relax, would ya? This thing isn't meant to be the be-all-end-all of recognition, merely an attempt to recognize folks in the community who make Denver a more interesting and vibrant place to live.

All of Denver's bars are the same...except for lipgloss. They actually play good music! But I guess Denver is full of boring idiots that listen to the same old music over and over and go to the same old bars like the ones in LODO....so lame!!!! Just like the music they play on the radio in this city. I lived here from 2003 to 2005 and I just moved back and WOW what do you know... they are playing the same damn songs on the radio that they were playing when I lived here before!! It's OK Denver I guess you have an excuse because you are not exposed to the world of good music like most other places are...or you just have no music taste at all! Trundle and Jacobson are the best DJ's EVER!!!!!!!!!
Ok just got back from two clubs in Denver that are very popular right now. Had a great time. But \'these (they???) have never been able to mix a record\' makes no sense to me. The guys at lip gloss mix just fine, and Trundle mixes the hell out of every DJ who\'s not a techno DJ that I\'ve ever heard.
And I like their hairdos and I like The Smiths. And their night is more fun than any of the others in this city.
I hope they don\'t fucking die. I\'d have no place good to go for actual dancing fun in Denver.
