Best Political Blog Denver 2009 - Face the State

Readers' Choice: ColoradoPols
Not so long ago, the conservative Face the State site regularly battled such well-funded liberal blogs as Colorado Media Matters and the Colorado Independent. But whereas CMM recently shut down and the Independent has been hampered by a significant downsizing, Face the State is scrappier than ever." Brad Jones's creation churns out fresh, original content at a rapid clip, with some items displaying an actual sense of humor — a rarity in political blogging. No wonder lefties have found it difficult to put many marks on this Face.

i listened to Brad Jones on the liberal radio show, Mike Zinna 101.5 The Truth....Brad was interesting, educational and entertaining. I had never heard of Face THE STATE.....i LIKE IT..ALSO, WHY DID COLORADO MEDIA MATTERS, SHUT DOWN? DOES ANYONE KNOW? Or are they like ACORN just rising out of the ashes with a changed name...?

I agree with Jerseyword. Westword usually leans left but has got a suprisingly large amount of input from one that is leaving an interesting impression on the site.

It is pretty amazing that Colorado Pols an engaging, entertaining, and informative website that leans left but still welcomes all points of view keeps getting the shaft from Westword. At least the readers know the difference between informed opinion and analysis and the nonsense proffered by an overtly-partisan twit.

The fact that Westword would claim that the use of humor on Face the State is "a rarity among political blogs" makes me question whether the editors have spent much time on the Internet. As for the actual humor on display on FTS, I think a better criterion would be their successful uses of humor compared to their mere attempts.

One more knock on FTS is not its utter bias, but rather its predictability. Libruls=bad. Big spending! Har!

Face The State typically reports the news no other organization seems to even (a) be aware of or, (b) doesn't want to report?

Our community should support news sites on both the Left and the Right that report factually reported, timely news that actually impacts our lives. You want PR read The Post.

I hope blogs/sites like FTS continue to get more respect from our elected leadership. Hear that Gov. Ritter?

Congratulations FTS--Westword award two years in a row!
