Primary 9News sports anchor Drew Soicher did Rod Mackey a big favor a few years back. He decided that he didn't want to work on the weekends, leaving Mackey the chance to take charge on Sundays, the biggest sporting day of the week. Still, credit Mackey with making the most of the opportunity. He's developed into a strong, solid on-air presence, with a good sense of balance that keeps the focus on sports instead of shtick.

No No No. After reading through almost all of your 2009 best of picks this is the one I must comment on. I don't know if its just because Rod Mackey is on NBC or what but Lionel Bienvenue (probably slaughtered the spelling) is a superior sports anchor. He actually possesses some charisma, unlike Rod.
You're kidding, right? Take away his shilling for CU and his go-to "no relation" joke (which was funny the first time he used it, mildly amusing the second and just irritating the next three million times he pulled it out)and what you have left is...dead air.
No, wait, dead air would be more informative than Rod Mackey.
