Best Radio Talk-Show Host Denver 2010 - Dan Caplis and Craig Silverman

Readers' Choice: David Sirota, AM 760

Now that texting while driving is illegal in Colorado, the legislature really should do something about drivers who listen to Caplis & Silverman while behind the wheel between 3 and 6 p.m. This odd couple of the airwaves can be dangerously distracting. While you're wondering just why former DA Craig Silverman doesn't execute a citizen's arrest for Caplis's shameless boosting of the University of Colorado, for example, you could wipe out a fleet of RTD buses. Still, it's almost impossible not to tune into their show during rush hour, and the impressive lineup of guests they book apparently all feel the same inevitable pull, because just about every politician and newsmaker in the state winds up yakking with these talk-show hosts.

Denver is trying to be a Progressive state. Politics are involved in Tebow's not playing. He took a stance against abortion and has been on conservative shows. I would bet that the higher ups don't want him to influence fans, young people as he is a person people, especially young people, will look up to. This is not as absurd as it may seem and makes sense.

It's Wednesday, 5/3 and I was offended by Craig's comment about "hold your horses" to one of our own vets who was adamant about the method of disposal of Bin Laden. My comment back is "well, then, keep your trap shut!"

Hi Dan and Craig. I actually had written this comment for my facebook page, but there were too many words, so I thought I would share it with you...I see there is a lot of celebrating today. What are you celebrating? Are you celebrating that Justice has been served? Are you celebrating some closure for the thousands of families affected on 9-11? Are you celebrating the heroic acts of all those involved in finding a terrorist and curbing his influence in the extremist world? Or are you celebrating the death of another human being? When we practice what THEY preach, we have lowered ourselves to their level. Most of us on FB know Jesus Christ...he did not. Let's pray for the continued safety of our men and women still in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. May God bless them.

thanks guys..

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (February 14th 2011)

Safe robbery of Texas TV evangelist Mike Murdock(Book titled Thieves was released by Trey Smith about his role in the safe robbery)

Denver, CO 02/14/2011 – Trey Smith is the man who robbed the TV evangelist Mike Murdock, stealing a large safe from the minister's Texas mansion (known as Hacienda de Paz). He has written a book about all the events surrounding the robbery and now done two live radio interviews on KGOV in Denver since the book’s (Thieves) release date on January 28th.

An online "confession video" got much attention on the day it was released (Jan 28th 2011) ---- click here for video

The book contains many examples of financial and sexual corruption, pornography and extreme anger issues within Mike Murdock Ministries. Trey Smith knew details of the evangelist's private life-style as he was the childhood best-friend of Mike Murdock's son, Jason Murdock.

Book Description (from back cover): Thieves is the true story (nonfiction narrative) about the safe robbery of the multi-millionaire television evangelist, Mike Murdock. Witnessing first-hand some of the most shockingly depraved acts and blatant corruption in the secretive world of "profit-preaching" Christianity; Trey takes you on the journey through his decisions, planning and ultimate execution of stealing the well-known minister's tightly guarded safe. After the robbery, it is a gripping thrill ride of the most engagingly unique kind: A man on the run from a TV preacher.

This book is a "true crime" story and does contains “gritty” situations, real crime events, some language, and brief sexual content.

More information on the book and safe robbery can be found at: www.thewebbattleground.com also www.readthieves.com and at www.treysmithbooks.comTrey Smith Bookscontact@treysmithbooks.com

BENEATH ARE REVIEWS

One review (secular media) - "Fantastic --- the book is absolutely beyond belief. I give it a 9.5 out of 10, and I'm a tough sell." - Chuck at the Examiner.

Another review (This one is from a pastor's blog site) - "if all "Thieves" readers devour it in one sitting, as I have, and are lead to blog and tell others about it, this story is sure to blow up like Mount St. Helen's circa 1980." - Doug Andrews

This is an article Trey Smith wrote that crashed the bandwidth on two servers in one night--- "Yes---- That is my old best friend (Jason Murdock) in that picture...." --Trey Smith article

A retired teacher, here's a scoop. Ed. Sect. Arne (The Lip) Duncan and D.C.'s super Michelle (The Decapitator) Rhee blame teachers for failing schools & want them fired. Coleman in '66 proved teachers have little effect on achievement levels and shouldn't be fired. If they know this they're liars and if they haven't read Coleman they're ignorant.

Call for more details and latest book titled Guerrilla Warfare for Teachers. Education is hot these days and so am I. 858-673-4461

My wife and I heard Obama interviewed on national TV where he declared himself to be a Muslim, but the interviewer said to to him, "you mean you are a Christian". So Obama corrected himself, and said, Oh yes, I mean my Christian religion". What do you think?

Trey and amethystlady2- Very well put and articulated. Caplis's "credibility" can be summed up in his ad-nauseum proclamation that Dubya would go down in history as the greatest president. He is also a great harbinger for reality occurring in the exact opposite way that he says it will or predicts... he is wrong at least 90% of the time in his predictions.

Trey, you hit this one right on top of that nail. I don't know ANYONE who listens to the "Odd Couple." Caplis used to be half-way decent to listen to when he only talked legal stuff when on another station...but now it is truly sickening to hear his 'holier-than-thou' preaching and his racist Obama attacks...yes, Dan, admit it....you ARE a bigot and a racist....and so is Silverman...and shame on both of you who are sons of sons of immigrant families...a HUGE shame on both of you...

And Sirota is NOT the reader's choice...

The one who should have won this hands down was Steve Seidenfeld...but then, you have to have a brain to listen to Steve...which it appears the readers of sometime visitors to Westword don't seem to have.

Bad bad choices all around...

In my OpinionYou description of Caplis and Silverman as the "Odd-Couple" of Denver talk radio belies the lack of creditability of your selection of the duo as Best Radio Show Talk Hosts and perhaps reflects the clubiness that your editor has with the clique that is Denver media.Their shtick is to pretend a supposedly diverse range of opinion, but the C&S show offers a profoundly narrow political spectrum - from Cheney to Lieberman - presuming anything outside that range as a product of the far left. I actually would challenge Silverman to demonstrate that he is to the left of former Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower, which I believe he is not (Hmmm, how about Politically left NIxon? Now that would be a challenge!). Eisenhower did such clearly leftist things as building an Interstate Highway system and warned of the military industrial complex. Gosh Criag, you’d actually have to demonstrate good citizenship by paying taxes for these endeavors!Caplis has elevated sanctimonious, self-righteous indignation to a level of practice seldom heard. Silverman is forever the milquetoast respondent to the Republican talking points –the basis of the show – always being sure to equivocate, Ad nauseum, on anything he says that may approximate a more progressive political view. He does this to the point he is more likey to convince listeners to support Caplis’ narrow minded dogma on a daily, moment by moment basis, than the alternative. When calling the show with opinion that deviates from the show's narrative, expect that you will not get a chance to respond to Caplis' wholly predictable (and did I say sanctimonious?) rhetorical filibusters, or Silverman's oft used "yes", "no" strawman questions that will end any chance of a real discussion that deviates from the narrative. You will find that you have been disconnected with no chance of comment or rebuttal while the boys pretend you are still on the line as they continue to over talk you. Of course, Craig describes this as a place where conversation takes place. The most upset and forthright you will hear Silverman get, is when he voices his disdain for anyone with the temerity to accuse him of being a shill for the republican talking points that make-up the show’s format. It is entertaining to see how the boys try to redefine the political right to the middle, and the middle to the left of the political spectrum. Of course, this is entirely lost on the majority of the low information listeners that C&S attract to the show, whose ignorance is their pride.Caplis' hypocrisy is the stuff of legend. I am sure he would accuse himself of high treason if he heard himself making even a small approximation of the vitriolic assaults he fosters trying to raise unpatrioctic doubts about Obama’s legitimacy, if it was directed at G.W. Bush. Dan, I think you demonstrate a willingness to sacrifice your personal integrity on the alter of political and partisan ideology when you do this.As egregious as the content of the show is, it is equally egregious in what you do not, and will not hear on the C&S show. Forget anything but a mention of domestic, economic, foreign policy or military successes that occur during the Obama administration – but be prepared for a week’s worth of programming about Obama and flag lapel pins. BTW, Obama’s successes are always framed as potential failures on this show.In a typical debate, Craig takes the supposed Democratic (oops, I mean “Democrat”), or more liberal side of an argument on topics framed like “just how badly is Obama screwing-up the country”, or “Health Insurance Reform: how it will lead to the destruction of the county and invite the decline of western civilization.”, or do “Do pigs fly?”Odd couple indeed.
